The beef sector is strategic for Botswana's economic diversification. On 17-19 November 2014, a public-private dialogue meeting will be held in Gaborone to examine the outcome of a value chain analysis of the beef sector and discuss the related action plan. It will gather Southern Africa and European stakeholders.
European business platforms have shared their views on the proposed EC communication on the future support to the private sector in developing countries. Among those: the Belgo-Luxembourgish EBCAM, the Italian Confindustria-Assafricaa and the French CIAN.
The Centre for the Development of Enterprise (CDE) has also contributed to the debate.
The objective of this guide is to provide practical knowledge to crop technicians on the cultivation of potatoes in West Africa. This information was substantially derived from the outstanding performance of local potato farmers in the region. It draws on the outcomes of a workshop organised by the CDE and its partners in Burkina Faso in 2007.
As part of the Competitiveness Enhancement Programme (CEP), also underway in other ACP countries and regions, the CDE helped to identify a cluster of 10 agro-industrial and agro-forestry companies in the Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic and the Republic of Chad, which benefitted from a comprehensive programme of technical assistance.
