The Competitiveness Enhancement Programme (CEP) covers the four Southern Africa countries of Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia.
The first implementation phase, which ended in December 2012, covered Botswana and Namibia while the second phase (2013 budget) will cover Zambia and Mozambique. The programme is expected to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of SMEs in the agro-food industry by:
- Adding value to their products and providing practical assistance in product diversification.
- Improving the quality of agro-food systems through a certification system.
- Developing management skills.
