The CDE is frequently involved in the financial evaluation of industrial projects and has developed a standardised programme for this purpose. It is a practical and highly efficient tool as well as a guarantee of sound methodology.
The programme, called FINAN, offers a range of options: from preliminary financial analysis of global project proposals to comprehensive financial projections, which are an essential part of a bankable feasibility study.
FINAN is based on standard techniques for industrial investment appraisal and preparation of feasibility studies as generally applied by the relevant professional agencies, consultants and finance institutions. The primary focus is from the perspective of the private investor, entailing financial profitability and commercial risk analysis. However, additional indicators concerning the development impact of a project, such as foreign exchange earnings, fiscal effects and value-added distribution are also examined.
