Southern Africa Tourism Investment Handbook

The Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa (RETOSA), is an institution of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) responsible for promoting and facilitating tourism growth and development in the region.

RETOSA has published this handbook, with the CDE technical and financial support.

The specific objectives of the "Southern Africa Tourism Investment Guidelines Handbook" are as follows:

  • To provide a one stop shop for all tourism investment information relating to all RETOSA member states to all interested regional tourism investment stakeholders.
  • To provide regional tourism investment opportunities including private projects, public sector driven projects as well as cross border projects including those requiring private-public sector partnerships.
  • To complement national efforts by SADC member states in attracting local and foreign direct investment into the region's tourism sector.
  • To contribute to SADC vision of making Southern Africa one of the world's top 5 regional tourism destinations by 2027.
